Wow. If only I would have waited a few hours it would have been a lot cooler for my walk! After running a few errands I promised the kids some time at a playground so we ended up at Mahoney for walking and playing. I thought about calling you but figured you were probably eating supper, or maybe, just maybe, getting some rest after your early morning! ;)
Jude thought it would be fun to get up and watch the sunrise this morning! I can't say I was in 100% agreement, but figured I'd keep the house silent so the rest of my guys could catch another hour or so of shut eye...it was pretty though...yawn!!
And then my boy decided that a 5:00 a.m. wake-up was indeed too early! Stinker!
Now I'm going to read and maybe doze off during naptime because I'm zonked!
The kiddos took of on their bikes and I waddled along behind in my flip-flops. Still haven't had my new shoes on again...waiting for that blister to go away. I'm not so sure flip-flops were a great idea either. :)
Jude's birthday party here at the house made for a busy day of preparation and entertaining! I was too pooped at the end of it to do an official 30 minutes of exercise. I did carry Jude while I vacuumed the whole house and that took a good 30 minutes...I think I was on my feet all day until I sat to eat some yummy pizza made by all the kiddos, so I'm going to count that as my time today!!! :) And another thanks to you my friend for the wonderul pizza cake and cupcakes!! You're awesome!
Here are a few more pics from during and after our Mud Run!
I LOVED this run...I smile from ear to ear every time I think of it...SOOOOO fun! I'm glad we got to do it together!! And thanks again for putting together the awesome piggy costumes!!
All dressed up & ready to race! The oh so fun, oh so messy mud pit! Aren't those the cutest little piggy tails you've ever seen?Almost to the finish line! Even though we are covered in mud our kiddos are still our greatest fans! Also, a big thank you to our wonderful husbands for supporting us through another race!
The butterflies are starting to flutter....eeek! I'm getting nervous & excited for the race! Not really sure what to expect since it's like nothing we've run before. Should be fun. The creek we will be running through then climbing up the other slippery, muddy side! Weeee! I'm glad you had the idea to load up the kiddos and check out the trail before the race. As for Nora? Well, I'm sure a snack would have helped. ;)
It made me feel better to go check the creek and mud pit out for our Mud Run tomorrow!! Definitely a well spent 30 minutes! See you tomorrow my piggy friend!!
Yippy skippy, new shoes!I laced these babies up this evening and headed out for a walk while the kids rode bikes. Only I didn't put socks on. Bad idea. Now I have a huge blister on my baby toe. I'm hoping it was just because I didn't have socks and not some sort of bad omen from the shoes. ;)
Happy 1st Birthday to my BABY!!! I cannot even begin to fathom where this year has gone!! This day last year officially marked the end of my month-long bedrest. I feel very blessed to have my health and to be celebrating the birthday of my healthy child! What a difference a year makes!!
Craig took the day off today and we all went for a walk first thing this morning. I walked as far as the playground with them and then I ran a lap around the park while Craig and the boys played. Then it was raspberry picking....
Yay for Internet and running together!!!!!!! I just mapped our morning run and here are the stats: 2.98 miles in 31:40. I messed up on mapmyrun.com when I was about to figure out pace, so if my math is correct, which it might not be (ha!), I think that's about a 10:37 pace! Not too shabby for rolling out of bed and beginning a run when the moon is still out! :) We must do it again!! :)
I'm baaaack!! We finally have our internet up & running (no pun intended) so now I can catch up on this blog! I had a wonderful run with you this morning. Inspite of the chilly weather and being so sleepy (I am so not a morning person) I'm super glad to have it done for the day. It feels great to be running again, and especially great to be running with you! :)
Sometimes naptimes just don't go the way I want them to...today was one of those days! My 30 minutes were split into two sessions...10 minutes during naptime (Jude woke up way too soon) and then 20 minutes once Craig got home from work.
I'm realizing that our next 5K will be here before I know it...and I'm realizing that I'm not really prepared! Yikes! I am feeling yesterday's run, that's for sure!
You are a super fast runner and that was a super hilly course! Thanks for running with me and listening to me complain when the going got tough! You are my Jillian! ;)
It was hot today, but by the time naps were over I still hadn't gotten my 30 minutes in. We packed up the boys and their bikes and drove to the Mopac Trailhead for a walk where we had some nice shade! It was perfect!
Lexi wasn't feeling too great today so we just hung out at home, trying to stay sane amidst all the boxes. In the evening we went for a slow stroll through the neighborhood which was good for all of us, I think.
Got a walk out of the way this morning with the boys and our neighbors...thank goodness because the further through the day I get, the worse I feel! All the boys' little sicky germs must be trying to get to me! :P TGIF!!!
Oh dear, I am so behind on here. I will catch up, I will. Our household goods arrived at our house today which means we are one step closer to life being "normal" again! We thought we'd get all the beds put together tonight. But instead we decided arranging the living room & hanging a few pictures would be more fun. :) After we did that we decided the beds could wait and we took off for a walk in our new neighborhood. I am in love with all the huge trees and the cool temps!
Oh how I love 67 degrees and overcast for a run!! I don't love cold, rainy weather as a rule, but it works out really well for running (for me)! Initially I was running into some wind and I wasn't feeling very positive, but then I found my rhythm and made up for it. I did 2.88 miles in 28:30 which is a 9:54 pace...I don't think I've ever broken a 10 minute pace for a run longer than a mile, so I'm feeling good! :)
Wow! These cool temps are sure a change from what we're used too. Can't wait for more fall days like this! Which translates into great running weather!
This is the last day that we have guests in our house, so it's the last day (other than weekends) that I'll be able to sneak out of the house during naptime for my 30 minutes! I walked and explored a new neighborhood!
I spent most of the morning cleaning our house in preparation for moving in. Man, it's quite the mess over there! I could have stayed longer but took the evening to walk with my family.
The weather is beautiful again today!! I'm loving the lower humidity!! Got outside for a naptime run...2.44 miles in 25:50. I'm really loving the prospect of running outdoors this Fall!!
Traveling from MI to NE doesn't leave me much of an opportunity for exercise. Thanks for lengthening your walk a bit for me (hehe) so I didn't have to make up quite as much time during rest stops!
Craig graduated with his MBA today!!!! It's official...no more evening classes!! Yay!! I knew it was going to be a busy day, so we actually all got up this morning and went straight outside for a walk/bike ride! It was so nice to start our busy day that way, and it was nice to be able to focus on enjoying the day and not have to worry about fitting in 30 minutes!!
My dad and I spent most of the day canning pickles! Yum! Can't wait until they are ready to eat. It was our last day in Michigan and I really didn't set aside a 30 minute chunk to exercise. Just did bits here and there. Feeling like I'm cheating the challenge a bit, but like I said before, life has been super crazy lately. :(
Hello lake Michigan! The best way, by far, to spend 30 minutes exercising is to climb up the big dune at Warren Dunes SP! This is Tower Hill which rises 240 feet above the lake. Talk about tiring! My favorite part is running back down! Happy sandy trails!
I technically could've gone outside at naptime since my MIL is here, but alas we are in an excessive heat warning AGAIN!!! So, back to the treadmill. I did 3 miles in 30:40.
Also, sometimes I forget that this Blog isn't truly a log for just Jessy and me to keep track of each other's daily walks/runs, and I want to apologize to all of you who were privy to my pity party on Saturday's post! Occasionally I lose sight of what's most important about this whole challenge and what was most important about Saturday was my Dax's accomplishment and the example I was setting for all my boys; not that I didn't get a PR! Like one of my running friends said, "Most people were home sleeping on Saturday morning while we were out running in the HEAT!" True that! Thanks to all of you for your support, inspiration, and words of encouragement and honesty!
Lexi is home and we are ready to resume our Michigan vacation! I was so tired tonight. Greg and I went for a leisurely stroll down to the lake. I'm not sure how long we walked. All I know it was just what we needed after those stressful days in the hospital!
Day 3 in the hospital, day 3 of no exercise unless you count pacing up and down the halls. This is Lexi during her EEG.I can't wait to get Lex home, get back to vacation and back to 30 minutes a day! Happy trails, Jessy
Busy day...work this morning, party prep during naps, and then the big birthday party! Once the boys were down for the night I was ready to collapse and then I realized I hadn't done my 30 minutes!! It had been a super hot and humid day, but I just wanted to be outside rather than the treadmill! I caught the tail end of a beautiful sunset and then it was dark...kinda made me wish I was brushed up on my kickboxing skillz! :)
Another day at the hospital. Another day of no walking/running. This past month has been so crazy with the move, traveling, and now this. Its been hard to stick with the challenge!
I was really looking forward to today's run, especially because I was excited for my big 4 year old! He got to do a 1 mile run on the runway!! Daddy did it with him since I was doing the 5K immediately following. His chip time was 12:20 and I was so proud of him!!! By the time it was time for my run, I was still emotional from seeing Dax cross the finish line, and when the gun went off I had my arms full of Jude and a bladder full of pee (sorry if that's TMI)! I was totally not ready...and it was the mental aspect that killed me...not to mention my choice of clothing...capris instead of shorts and a BLACK short-sleeved shirt over a thin layering tank! WHAT?!?! I've been doing this long enough to know better, right? I was thinking it was early and it was an easy flat course...yes, flat, but no shade at all!! Ugh! My chip time was 32:25, which was a 10:26 pace...not even bad, but I wanted a PR and I walked two times and I've never walked during a race! I felt defeated and my normal motivation to keep progressing with my running is gone! So much for endorphins today...
